Terms of Service for Verso Playground Chrome Extension
Last Updated: August 18, 2025
Introduction
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Verso Playground Chrome extension (“the Extension”). By using the Extension, you agree to these Terms.
Eligibility & Accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for the security of your account and for all activity under it.
The Extension and Beta Features
The Extension provides AI‑assisted tools for tasks like headlines, newsletters, story angles, fact‑checking prompts, and audio generation (TTS/podcast). Some features are in beta and may change or be discontinued. Output quality may vary.
Your Content & Ownership
You retain ownership of content you input and the outputs generated for you, subject to any applicable third‑party terms (e.g., model provider terms) and your rights to the underlying content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use any content you process.
License to Process Your Content
You grant Verso a limited, non‑exclusive license to process your content to operate the Extension and provide results. During beta, we may store generation logs (see Privacy Policy) to improve quality and reliability.
Prohibited Uses
Do not use the Extension to:
- Violate laws or third‑party rights.
- Generate or distribute harmful, deceptive, or abusive content.
- Reverse engineer, disrupt, or overload our services or third‑party APIs.
- Circumvent credit limits, access controls, or security features.
Third‑Party Services
The Extension uses third‑party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini) and voice providers (e.g., ElevenLabs) via our backend, and Google services for authentication/hosting. Your use of these services is subject to their terms and policies. We do not control third‑party services and are not responsible for them.
Credits, Plans & Fair Use
Certain features consume credits. Plans, pricing, and credit usage rules may change. We may limit usage to protect service stability and prevent abuse.
Google Integrations (Docs/Drive)
If you connect Google, the Extension requests read‑only scopes to fetch documents you choose. Your Google access token is stored locally by Chrome and used only to access that content. You may disconnect in the Extension at any time.
Privacy
Your use of the Extension is subject to our Privacy Policy. It explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Disclaimers
The Extension and outputs are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. AI‑generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for your use case. You should independently review results before relying on them.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Verso will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Extension.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Verso harmless from claims, damages, liabilities, and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your use of the Extension, or your violation of these Terms or applicable laws.
Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to others or the service.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post updates here and adjust the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
